Are you looking for contraception but not sure which method to choose? There are many types to choose from, e.g. the pill, an IUD (coil), an implant or hormonal injection. We are happy to discuss the various pros and cons of each method in our clinic. We can also discuss this when you are here for an abortion. You don’t have to decide on the spot; you can take your time to think it over and contact us for a follow up appointment. We have the IUD and other birth control methods available in our clinic.

You can sometimes claim for birth control on your insurance. You can check with your insurance company whether this is the case for you. However, quite often you will not be able to make a claim. In that case, you will have to pay for the IUD or implant, including the actual placement and check-up after four weeks. If you would like to get an idea of the costs, just give us a call.
IUD
An IUD (also known as a coil) is fitted in the uterus.
There are copper IUD’s (without hormones) and hormonal IUD’s. They are both very reliable forms of birth control.
Contraceptive Implant
The contraceptive implant contains hormones but fewer than say, for example those in the pill. It is placed under the skin in your upper arm. You can’t see it once it is fitted. If you stroke your arm, you can feel it.
Some women find that their periods become irregular, lighter or even stop altogether. This is nothing to worry about.
Emergency Contraception
You can buy the morning-after pill over the counter from the chemist or pharmacist. The morning-after IUD is more reliable than the morning-after pill. You should use either of the morning-after methods as soon as possible after unprotected sex.
